PITTSFORD, N.Y. — Three scored in double figures and host Pittsford Sutherland defeated Waterloo, 57-33 in non-league action, Tuesday night.
Lucy Bush netted a game-high 19 points while teammates Maddy Littlefield and Petra Hunt added 12 and 10 respectively to lead the Knights (7-5) to back-to-back wins.
“This is a pretty young group,” head coach Dan Judd said of his team that starts three sophomores and two juniors. “We’re still figuring out how to practice. I thought this past week we had two really good practices – Saturday and yesterday. Really good, intense practices which translated into the game today. I thought it made a big difference.”

Hunt hit a free throw-line jumper, and Mackenzie Dermody slipped ahead of the defense for a layup as the Knights scored the game’s first six points.
Bush connected on a catch-and-shoot 3-pointer followed by a pair of free throws for a double-digit lead at 11-1 with 2:50 remaining in the first quarter.
Bush’s next triple made it a 19-8 game early in the second quarter. The Knights did not allow Waterloo within single digits for the remainder of the contest.

Sutherland held Waterloo (8-3/No. 8 NYSSWA), a team averaging 57.7 points per game, to its lowest offensive output of the season.
“That’s the best we’ve defended all year,” Judd said. “I really thought it started on that end. We weren’t scoring all the time, but we really made it hard on them to score.”
The Knights limited Waterloo to 11 field goals including five from behind the 3-point arc.
“They’re a really good three-point shooting team, and they were having a hard time generating open looks. We really worked on that all week. I thought our kids were ready.”
At the same time, Sutherland’s defense picked up in the backcourt and forced 14 turnovers in the first half to take a 31-17 lead into the break.
“We sped them up a little bit. In the third quarter, we started to give a couple open looks, so we got out of the press. Then just locked in at the half court. I thought we did a really good job of knowing the scout, doing our job and executing.”
Taylor Hamilton added six points in the win. Dermody chipped in five.
Addison Bree led Waterloo with nine points. Maci Mueller had eight, and Jonay Hawkins seven for the Tigers.
