Mallory Heise poured in 27 of her game-high 34 points in the second half when Hilton (No. 1 NYSSWA Class AA) outscored Waverly (No. 18 NYSSWA Class B) by 18 to pull away from a tie game at half. Heise, who this past Saturday set the program’s single-game scoring mark with 41 points against Brighton, connected on 9-of-16 shots from the floor and 11-of-14 from the free-throw line. The St. Bonaventure University commit also grabbed 11 rebounds. Maddie Murphy finished with 11 points and seven rebounds while Ella Simonelli had nine points and five rebounds. Madeline Patton (4), Paige Siciliano (3) and Jayleigh Esposito also scored for Hilton. The loss was the first of the year for Waverly (9-1). The win was the second state over a state-ranked opponent for Hilton which beat Horseheads (No. 23 NYSSWA AA), 74-41 on Saturday. Hilton travels to face Webster Thomas for a 7:15 tip-off on Wednesday.
