Tournament MVP Loren Green scored nine of her team-high 26 points in the third quarter when Aquinas (No. 7 NYSSWA Class AA) pulled away from a one-possession game and went on to beat host Utica Notre Dame (No. 10 NYSSWA Class A), 79-68 in the championship of the 2025 Juggler Classic.
Leading 38-36, Green connected three times from behind the 3-point arc during the third when the Li’l Irish outscored Utica ND, 58-50. The sophomore guard finished the game with seven triples, part of an overall effort that saw AQ hit 11 threes as a team.
The win was the second straight over a state-ranked opponent for Aquinas (10-1) which defeated Albany Academy (No. 2 Class A NYSSWA), 61-56 in Saturday’s semifinal game.
AJ Orr, who finished with a game-high 20 points in Saturday’s win, added 12 more points in the title-clinching win and joined Green on the All-Tournament team.
Molly O’Toole hit a trio of treys as part of a 21-point effort, and Carlé Thomas had 13 points in the win. Samiyah Wright (5) and Bles’ng Muhammad (2) rounded out the scoring for Aquinas.
Junior Ella Trinkaus scored 11 of her game-high 32 in the first quarter to stake Utica ND to a 22-16 lead. Emma Johnson added 11 points. Lily Johnson (9), Erin Trinkaus (8) and Jules Oits (6) also scored.
Aquinas will host Webster Schroder on Thursday (6:30 p.m.) and East High (1:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
