Kate Crowley helped Pittsford Mendon girls’ soccer win its first state title in more than three decades. Mia Gray led Byron-Bergen to a program-first state crown.
The pair of Section V standouts garnered State Player of the Year for their respective classes and highlighted the list of local players earning All-State recognition as announced by NYSSCOGS earlier this week.
Crowley, the NYS Class A Player of the Year, anchored a Mendon defense that limited opponents to nine goals while finishing the season with a record 19-1-1. Crowley played all but 70 minutes in goal for the Vikings and had 13 shutouts on the season including clean sheets in the sectional and regional championship games. The Monroe County Division III Player of the Year, Crowley made 104 saves and finished with a goals against average of 0.43. Mendon won its fourth state title and first since 1988.

Gray, the NYS Class C Player of the Year, led all of Section V with 40 goals and 105 points on the season. The University of Florida commit netted golden goals in the Bees’ 2-1 regional win over Frewsburg and then to clinch the state championship. The junior midfielder is Section V’s career active scoring leader with 145 goals. Her 104 career assists ranks sixth all-time in New York State history.
Crowley was joined on the New York State Class A team by teammates Charlotte Engin (First Team) and Gabriella Giordano (Second Team). Wayne’s Addison Rice (Second Team), Pittsford Sutherland’s Elizabeth Riley (Fourth Team) and Greece Olympia’s Sarah Tawaf (Fourth Team) also earned Class A All-State honors.
Byron-Bergen Bees Natalie Prinzi (First Team), Elizabeth Starowitz (Second Team), Grace DiQuattro (Third Team), joined Gray on the NYS Class C team.
Gananda’s Izzy Hoffman (First Team), Holley’s Zoey Wolf (Second Team), Williamson’s Lauren Schmeelk (Second Team), Kendall’s Sophia Picardo (Kendall), Caledonia-Mumford’s Bre Bishop, Geneseo’s Alison Fowler and Genesee Valley/Belfast’s Bayleigh Tallman also received NYS Class C honors.
Fairport’s Savanna Biehler was named to the NYS Class AAA First Team. while Spencerport’s Lindsay Lenhard earned First Team Class AA. Hornell’s Madison Rudenauer garnered First Team Class B.
Ava Thayer (Keshequa), Polly Bay (Naples) and Braelyn Isaman (Keshequa) were named to the Class D First Team.
Class AAA: Andrea Wilson (Fairport/Second Team) and Avery Slater (Fairport/Fifth Team).
Class AA: Finn Cregan (Brighton/Second Team), Emily Peacock (Spencerport/Second Team), Molly Brown (Penfield/Third Team) and McKenna Roth (Victor/Fourth Team.
Class B: Parker Graham (Hornell/Second Team), Olivia Feehan (Livonia/Third Team) and Zoey Humphrey (Le Roy/Fourth Team).
Class D: Grace Kearney (Northstar Christian/Second Team), Allie Frederickson (Fillmore/Second Team), Mattie McCumiskey (Fillmore/Second Team), Alivia Cartwright (Keshequa/Third Team) and Ryleigh Goodliff (Fillmore/Third Team).
