Will Hawken led Brockport to 15 regular-season wins and a Monroe County Division IV title. Matthew Lincoln paced a Naples squad that won 14 matches and the top spot in Finger Lakes West. Section V Boys’ Soccer honored the pair with its top honors.
Hawken was named the Ronald Zorn Large Schools Player of the Year. The senior forward finished with 27 goals and 10 assists during the regular season including hat tricks against Greece Olympia and Greece Arcadia. The Monroe County Division IV Player of the Year also posted braces against Batavia (twice) Eastridge, Canandaigua and Greece Athena.
Hawken, who has 33 goals and 14 assists, currently, helped Brockport to its first sectional title since 2017. The Blue Devils will face Section II champion Schalmont in the NYS Class A semifinals this Saturday, November 16th at Middletown High School in Middletown, New York.
Lincoln, the Finger Lakes West Player and Jeff Farnsworth Small Schools Player of the Year, has 30 goals and 13 assists on the season. He helped the Big Green to a 14-1-0 regular season including 11-1-0 in league play.
The senior forward/midfielder had a goal and an assist when Naples avenged its only loss of the season to date with a 4-nil win over Dundee/Bradford in the regular season finale. He netted four goals and added an assist in the Big Green’s season-opening 6-1 win at Harley-Allendale-Columbia. Along the way, Lincoln also registered a hat trick in a 6-0 win over Campbell-Savona.
Lincoln and Naples claimed its first sectional title since 2000 and clinched a spot in the state semifinals with a 4-0 win over Section VI champion, Ellicottville. The Big Green will play Hamilton from Section III this Friday, November 15th. A 3:15 p.m. kickoff is scheduled at Middletown High School in Middletown, New York.
Hawken and Lincoln topped the list of Section V standouts to earn league and divisional players of the year including Rochester City Athletic Conference (RCAC) Player of the Year, Yassan Ali (Wilson Magnet/Early College), Bailey Connor (Irondequoit), the Monroe County Division II POTY, Johnny Daby (Northstar Christian/Private-Parochial League POTY), Colden Forney (Pittsford Mendon/Monroe County III), Ian Hinrich (Keshequa/Livingston County II), Ryan Irizarry (Newark/Finger Lakes East), Holden Kelly (Perry/Livingston County III), Liam Kinney (East Rochester/Wayne County), Ryan Mathis (Fairport/Monroe County I), Taylor Pragle (Arkport-Canaseraga/Steuben County II), Pablo Rosario-Reyes (Kendall/Genesee Region), Mason Simmons (Churchville-Chili/Monroe County II), Evan Turybury (Genesee Valley-Belfast/Allegany County), Colin Ullock (Livonia/Livingston County I) and Zane Wheeler (Addison/Steuben County I).

Section V Boys’ Soccer handed out Coach of the Year honors to Bill Teasdale (Fairport/Class AAA), John Mahoney (Churchville-Chili/Class AA), Jeff Phillips (Brockport/Class A), Ray Maxwell (Livonia/Class B), Mike Yacuzzo (East Rochester/Class C1), Rich Esposito (Kendall/Class C2) and Ryan Betrus (Naples/Class D).
Phillips was named the Joe Borrosh Large Schools Coach of the Year while Betrus received the Scotty Martin Small Schools Coach of the Year.
