WEBSTER, N.Y. — Sam Burton connected for a pair of goals, and host Webster Schroeder defeated Williamson, 4-0 in non-league action Saturday night.

Burton gained possession during a scramble in front of the Williamson net and scored his first goal to give the Warriors a 2-nil lead heading into halftime.

The senior forward completed the brace 15 minutes into the second half when he redirected a cross from teammate Brayden Chase for his team-leading ninth goal of the season.

The win was the third straight for the Warriors and third in a string of shutouts.

“The boys are playing well,” said Schroeder head coach Dave Urbanski. “Most of the games this year were all tight besides the first Fairport match. Everything’s a goal here, a goal there. We just couldn’t get over the hump, but now they’re starting to figure things out.”

Ben Cashman and Alex Bonacci combined for Saturday’s clean sheet. Starting keeper Leo Cannon shouldered the responsibility between the pipes for the previous two matches.

“We’re much more organized,” Urbanski said of the play from his backline. “We went O-and-three to kick off the year. Victor, Penfield, Fairport, three tough ones to start off. That showed us some things that we were doing wrong. We’re a lot more disciplined, a lot more compact. That helped a ton.

“Every team wants to score some goals, but if you’re not organized in the back and leaking goals, it’s not a recipe for success.”

The 20th-year coach also credited his assistants Charles Cipolla and former Rochester Rhinos’ head man Jesse Myers for his side’s success.

“I got a great coaching staff. Charles is in his second year with us, and Jesse, he settled us down a bit. He brought us some ideas. Organization is huge.”

Aidan Ramirez and Ryan Parker also found the back of the net in the win.

Schroeder (5-6-2) opens the final week of the regular season hosting Wayne for a non-league tilt on Monday. A 6:30 p.m. start is scheduled.

Williamson (8-4-1) welcomes North Rose-Wolcott for a Wayne County matchup. That game is also a 6:30 p.m. kickoff on Monday.
