Cash Rosado entered play Tuesday night with eight goals on the young season. The junior forward/midfielder didn’t double his season output, but he came close enough that it’s worth mentioning.

Rosado found the back of the net five times, and Brockport boys’ soccer remained unbeaten with a 6-1 victory over host Greece Olympia in Monroe County Division IV action.

Less than five minutes into the contest, Rosado was on the finishing end of a corner kick that started with teammate Ryan Camman playing a service from the left flag. Will Hawken, at far post, went airborne and headed the ball into the middle of the six-yard box where Rosado redirected it into the twine.

“Will is a good guy in the box and he got a little nick on it,” Rosado said. “I was there in open space and just had to finish, so that’s what I did.”

Less than 10 minutes after that set piece, Hawken led Rosado through Olympia backline for a one-on-one opportunity against Spartans’ keeper, Obe Kadge. Rosado finished near post. It was the first of two goals in a matter of :40 seconds that gave the Blue Devils a commanding lead. Hawken helped set up both of the scores.

“It’s a special group of guys we have up top right now,” said seventh-year Brockport head coach, Jeff Phillips. “They’re tough guys to defend. They’re getting credit for a lot of our goals, but it’s also a credit to the guys around them.

“These guys don’t care who scores the goals. They’re a full package right now. They just want to win. They’re feeling good about themselves. They’re working as a team.”

Rosado converted a penalty kick to send Brockport into halftime with a 4-nil lead. The Blue Devils were well on the way to their sixth win in as many tries.

“Our team chemistry is super-good,” Rosado said. “We’re here together on the field, but we also hang out off the field.”

Rosado set up Hawken less than six minutes into the second half, and Brockport extended the lead to 5-0.

The Blue Devils have outscored their opponents this season by a combined total of 30-4. Hawken and Rosado have 24 of those goals.

“We’re a tough team to defend,” Phillips said. “The diagonal runs that they make up top among the five or six guys that are in the midfield. They make it tough for teams to defend us.”

The win came after the state rankings were released earlier in the day. Brockport is No. 2 in Class A.

“I told the guys ‘It’s September 16th. Nobody cares when you are on September 16th. It’s how you finish the season.’ We just keep taking one game at a time.”

Tyler Sherman made three saves for the win.

Allandiguim Kadge scored the lone Olympia (3-2) goal.

Rosado (27 points/ 13 goals and 1 assist) and Hawken 27 points/11 goals and 5 assists) are tied atop the Section V scoring leaders.

Brockport hosts Canandaigua on Thursday for a 6:30 p.m. start.

Olympia welcomes Eastridge for a 5 p.m. kickoff on Friday.
