Jack Dunn delivered the game-winning RBI in the seventh inning as the Rochester Red Wings closed their series at PNC Field with a 5-4 victory over Scranton Wilkes-Barre in International League action on Sunday afternoon.
Tied 4-4 heading in the seventh, Stone Garrett got things rolling for the Red Wings with a double to left field. Dunn followed and singled to bring home Garrett with the eventual winning run.
Tyler Stuart started and struck out five over 4.2 innings of work. The right-hander, making his third Triple-A start, allowed two runs on six hits and two walks.
Amos Willingham struck out one and allowed a hit and a walk over 1.2 innings scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win. Rico Garcia registered his 19th save of the season with one strike out in a scoreless ninth inning of work.
Rochester was able to get on the board in the first inning when Joey Meneses drove in Dunn and Andrew Pinckney for a 2-0 lead.
The RailRiders answered in the fourth thanks to a Carlos Narvaez double to right field that brought home Oswald Peraza.
In the fifth, Scranton Wilkes-Barre struck again as Jorbit Vivas sent a ball over the right field wall for a solo home run to tie the game at 2-2.
In the sixth inning, the Red Wings responded. With one out and a runner on base, Riley Adams connected on a fly ball over the right field wall for a two-run home run and a 4-2 lead. Brady House scored on the play.
Narvaez came home on a wild pitch and Jahmai Jones took advantage of an error as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Jones tied the score at four in the sixth.
For the Red Wings, Adams went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Pinckney tallied a run in a 2-for-5 effort and Garrett finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Dunn also walked and scored in the win.
T.J. Rumfield went 4-for-5 on the day and Vivas finished 2-for-5 along with an RBI and a run scored for the RailRiders.
With the win, the Wings end the series .500 as they finish 3-3 against the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. The Red Wings are back at home at Innovative Field as they host the Worcester Red Sox with first pitch scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
