The Rochester Red Wings drop their second straight game to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 2-1. The Wings grabbed a 1-0 lead early but could not hang on. Cal Stevenson doubled in the ninth to plate the winning run for the IronPigs
In the bottom of the ninth, Aramis Garcia was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning for the IronPigs. In the next at-bat, Cal Stevenson, with his 22nd double of the year walked it off.
The Red Wings (30-20, 68-56) had a bullpen day as seven different pitchers stepped on the mound. They combined for eight strikeouts while giving up six hits. Zach Brzykcy and Orlando Ribalta each gave up one run for the Red Wings. Ribalta was saddled with the loss.
Joey Meneses doubled in the top of the second and Trey Lipscomb followed with a single to plate Meneses and give the Red Wings an early 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth, Buddy Kennedy took the first pitch of the inning 417 feet to tie things at 1-1 for the IronPigs.
After a quiet few innings, the Red Wings had life in the top of the ninth. Brady House singled to get on base and Carter Kieboom followed with a single of his own to put runners on first and second with one out. Michael Mercado for the IronPigs struck out Meneses and then got a ground ball out in the next at-bat to end the inning and he would eventually get the pitching win.
The Red Wings are 2.5 game back of the first place Columbus Clippers (32-17, 64-59), who won their first game after dropping two in a row to the Indianapolis Indians. The Red Wings have game six of the series with Thaddeus Ward (7-4, 5.22) slated to start. The IronPigs have not announced a starting pitcher yet. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
