The Rochester Red Wings fell 3-2 at the Buffalo Bisons on Thursday, as Wings hitters were held to four hits, including just one after the second inning.

The Wings (20-16 in the second half, 58-51 overall, four game out of first in the International League) took an early lead in the first inning, as Dylan Crews drew a walk before first baseman Andres Chaparro found a hanging slider from Trenton Wallace and hit it 104.5 mph over the fence for a 379 foot two-run home run- his third straight game with a home run.

That would be all the scoring for the Red Wings for the day, as Buffalo (16-20 in the second half, 53-57 overall, eight games back) answered in the bottom of the second with a two-run home run of their own from Alan Roden, who grabbed hold of a Thaddeus Ward changeup low and shot it 108 miles per hour into the Buffalo night to tie it, 2-2.

The Bisons pulled ahead in the fifth, as three straight one-out singles culminated in a go-ahead hit by Phil Clarke to make the score 3-2. Aside from a single by Chapparo in the eighth, the Red Wings never threatened to equalize.

Chaparro went 2-for-2 for Rochester on the day, walking twice and driving in Rochester’s only two runs on the homer. Jose Meneses and Jack Dunn had Rochester’s other two hits. Orlando Ribalta threw a scoreless inning of relief, followed by two scoreless innings from Amos Willingham.

Rochester and Buffalo continue their series on Friday at 6:35 p.m. Left-hander Andrew Alvarez (2-3, 5.13) takes the mound for Rochester against a Bisons pitcher to be named.
