A Rochester area official has reached the pinnacle of college sports for the second time this week.
Gates Chili graduate Joe Carusone will be on the ice Saturday night officiating the NCAA Division I men’s hockey championship game between Denver and Boston College at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. The game will be broadcast at 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
Carusone, a Gates Chili and Cortland State alum, began officiating ECAC hockey games in the 2004-05 season. He is working his third Frozen Four in four years, having officiated the 2021 title game between UMass and St. Cloud State in Pittsburgh and the 2022 national semifinal between Denver and Michigan in Boston.
Jeffrey Anderson, a Franklin graduate, worked Monday night’s NCAA men’s basketball championship game between Connecticut and Purdue in Glendale, Ariz.
