
Garrett Clar led Victor to a 12-8 regular-season and a No. 7 seed in Class AA. Reggie Smith Jr. became the first boys’ basketball player in Brighton program history to top the 1,000-point mark. Khorie Reaves paced a Greece Athena squad that finished the regular season unbeaten and climbed to the No. 1 spot in New York State. Jalonie Pittman and Eastridge finished 13-7, good enough for a six-seed in Class A. The quartet garnered Player of the Year honors for their respective divisions as announced by Monroe County coaches.
Clar averaged 19.6 points, 3.9 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game to earn Monroe County Division I Player of the Year. The 6-foot-2 guard posted a season-high 31 points against Webster Thomas when he hit seven 3-pointers. He matched that output later against Penfield. Clar scored 20 or more points nine times and shot 45 percent from behind the 3-point arc. He was also the 2022-23 Division I Player of the Year.
Fairport’s LaSahard Lowry Jr. and Aidan White joined Clar on the Division I First Team along with Brady Gerig (Hilton), Trevor Hofer (Penfield) and Ben Sneddon (Hilton).

Smith earned Division II Player of the Year. The 6-foot-5 forward averaged 22 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two blocks per game. A three-time All-County performer, Smith started in 64 games at the varsity level. He finished his career with 1,197 points and averaged a double-double for the Bruins with 19 points and 10 rebounds per game.
Webster Schroeder’s Anthony DeRosa and Jake Insley were also named to the Division II First Team as well as Isaiah Ballard (Irondequoit), Quinn VanKerkhove (Irondequoit) and Joey Vigerzi (Gates Chili).

Reaves averaged 18.4 points per game and was named Division III Player of the Year. The 6-foot-4 guard was at his best in the biggest moments scoring a game-high 24 points when Athena handed Monroe its first loss of the season. He finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds when the Trojans went on the road and beat eventual Class AAA finalist Franklin. He scored 20 and earned Tournament MVP honors to lead Athena to the Hilton Hall of Fame Tournament championship, and he had 15 points in the Trojans win over eventual Class AAA champion, UPrep. A First Team All-County performer a season ago, Reaves finished his career with 1,119 career points.
Teammates Zee Johnson and Connor Osier accompanied Reaves on the Division III First Team along with Michael Bischoping (Pittsford Mendon), Luke Fliss (Pittsford Sutherland) and Max Michalski (Pittsford Sutherland).

Pittman averaged nearly 17 points and nine rebounds per game to earn Monroe County Division IV Player of the Year. The 6-foot-1 senior guard finished the seasonwith nine double-doubles. He scored a season-high 30 points against Edison Tech grabbed 17 rebounds against Irondequoit. Twice Pittman handed out eight assists in a game. He scored 16.7 points per game on 47.9 shooting (146-305) from the floor including 51.7 percent (135-261) inside the 3-point arc. He had 8.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.
Pittman’s teammate, Marquis Tubbs, was also named to the Division IV First Team. Caiden Evans (Greece Olympia), Wyatt Huff (Honeoye Falls-Lima) and Justin Smith (Batavia) also garnered First Team honors.
