West Herr Saturday Girls’ Basketball Wrap: McIntyre and Patterson lead Fairport to AAA crown; Reilly carries Elba to D title

CLASS AAA
No. 6 FAIRPORT (8-15) 42
No. 5 GREECE ARCADIA/OLYMPIA (8-15) 35
Kate Patterson and Delaney McIntyre each led Fairport with eight points. The Red Raiders jumped out to a 17-11 lead and held on for the program’s seventh sectional title. Livea Amadori and Courtney Merlo each connected for six points in the win. Amiya Johnson (5), Jada Crocker (5) and Lola Pucci (4) also scored in the win. Shania Estrich led Greece Arcadia/Olympia with 13 points. Maddy Kielkowicz finished with 12 points and Aimee Turner added 10 points.

No. 1 VICTOR (21-2) 33
Tournament MVP Mallory Heise scored five of her game-high 13 points in the fourth quarter as the No. 2 Hilton Cadets rallied to beat top-seeded Victor, 38-33 in the 2024 Section V Class AA Girls’ Basketball championship Saturday at Finger Lakes Community College. READ MORE.

CLASS A
No. 6 AQUINAS (19-5) 43
No. 1 PITTSFORD SUTHERLAND (18-5) 41
In a game where every basket came at a premium, No. 6 Aquinas came away with just enough to knock off No. 1 Pittsford Sutherland, 43-41. The Li’l Irish captured their fifth sectional championship in program history and their first since winning the Class A2 title in 2018. Aquinas head coach Mark Loria was proud of his team’s fight to break through. READ MORE.

CLASS B
No. 2 DANSVILLE (20-4) 36
No. 1 HORNELL (21-3) 44
Only one member of the Hornell Red Raiders starting five entering championship Saturday averaging less than 10 points per game. It was that player, Selena Maldonado, who shined when the lights were brightest, scoring 25 points as the Red Raiders defeated Dansville to win their second straight sectional title, 44-36. The tournament MVP was thrilled her team’s hard work had yielded results. READ MORE
