One team is seeking its first sectional title in 17 years. The other is looking for its third championship in the last four seasons. Bloomfield and East Rochester will meet Friday to decide the 2024 Section V Class C1 Girls’ Basketball Championship. Here’s the breakdown:

How they got here: Bloomfield defeated No. 18 Clyde-Savannah, 83-48, in the first round before downing No. 7 Pembroke, 68-23, in the quarterfinals and No. 6 Lyons, 56-55, in the semis. East Rochester beat No. 13 Avon by a 79-27 score in the first round, took down No. 5 Byron-Bergen, 62-55, in the quarterfinals and defeated top-seeded Gananda, 55-54, in the semis.

History 101: Bloomfield is seeking its 13th sectional title in program history and first since 2007. The Bombers reeled off four consecutive championship runs between 1998 and 2001 before hoisting the 2007 block – all in Class CC. East Rochester is looking for its third Class C1 title in the last four years and eighth overall. The Bombers went back-to-back in 2021 and 2022. In 2022, the Bombers advanced to the state semifinals before falling to eventual Section IX champion, Millbrook.
What’s next: Winner will the Class C2 champion (either Dundee/Bradford or Keshequa) in the NYS Class C Far West Regional qualifier.
An 8 p.m. tip off is scheduled at Finger Lakes Community College.
