Terence Thompson recorded his eighth double-double of the season, but it wasn’t enough as Franklin (5-3) fell to host Jamestown, 75-70 in the finals of the United Way Showcase, Saturday.
Thompson scored 12 of his game-high 32 points in the third quarter when Franklin trimmed a seven-point halftime deficit to four.
The 6-foot-7 senior center connected 13 times from the floor in the contest and grabbed 25 rebounds.
Clarence Thompson found the range for five 3-pointers and added 17 points to the Franklin offense. Shawn Goins accounted for 12 points. Lavante Brown and Kollin McCullough had five and three points respectively.
Franklin defeated Dunkirk (VI), 83-56 to reach Saturday’s championship game.
Elijah Farmer led Jamestown with 18 points including 12 in the second quarter when the Red Raiders (6-1) grabbed a 37-30 lead. Bishop Butts added 12 points. Dominic Gonzalez added 11 points.
All three of Franklin’s losses have to teams represented in the most recent NYSSWA polls: Aquinas (No. 14 AAA), Greece Athena (No. 10 AA) and Jamestown (Honorable Mention AA).
Franklin will play at East High on Friday, January 5th.
