Thursday Girls’ Basketball Wrap: Cook leads Sutherland; Romach guides East Rochester

Natalie Mai drained three long-range shots as part of her 11-point fourth quarter as Pittsford Mendon outscored East High, 17-12. Mai finished with a team-high 15 points. Sarah Hanfland scored eight of her 12 points in the second period to give the Vikings a 19-17 intermission edge. Kate Crowley added 10 points. For East High, Gabriela Brown-Sturdivant drained eight field goals, including two from beyond the arc, for a game-high 21 points. Freshman guard Petra Hunt stepped up with 18 points and six rebounds as Pittsford Sutherland outscored Our Lady Of Mercy, 19-9, in the fourth quarter. Senior forward Leora Cook accumulated six steals to add to her 16 points. Eden Lewis swatted seven shots.

Emma Romach notched 17 points as East Rochester won its third straight to open the season. Aaliyah Carmichael followed up with 14 points. Zarriah Eldridge chipped in 12 points.

Bailey Mullen paced a balanced Canisteo-Greenwood offense with 14 points. The sophomore guard netted 12 points in the first half. Freshman center Harley McCaffery posted eight points and nine rebounds. Junior forward McKenna Ferris collected six points and eight boards. For Alfred-Almond, Olivia Flaitz had three points.
