Senior guard Clarence Thompson led five players in double figures with 20 points, five rebounds and four assists as Franklin held off UPrep’s 16-point rally for its first win. Terence Thompson dominated with 18 points, 18 boards, four dimes and three rejections. Senior guard Kollin McCullough posted a double-double as well with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Lavante Brown added 13 points while Shawn Goins finished with 10.

Marcus Freeman paced four players in double figures with 19 points in Monroe’s second straight win to open the season. Freeman ignited his squad with 16 first-half tallies, including 11 in the opening stanza, and drilled five three-pointers. Cameron Miller input 14 points in three periods and converted six field goals. DaiQuon McKinney and Tajmir Mullins both netted 12 points. Mullins supplied all of his scoring in the first half while McKinney sparked the Red Jackets with nine in the first eight minutes. For Northeast, Kanaz Linder poured all 17 of his points in the second and fourth quarters. Jaivein Fell followed up with 12 points. The sophomore guard combined for 18 points in the second and third quarters. DeAndre Leonard recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and 15 boards. Leonard poured 12 of his points in the second and final periods. Senior forward Yacoub Tarawally netted 13 points in three quarters and grabbed seven rebounds. For School Of The Arts, junior guard Ishmael Gonzales led three players in double figures with 17 points in three periods. Senior guard Sam Howland tallied 14 of his 16 points in the second and third quarters. Latrell Williams added 11 points. Junior guard Ryan D’Arduini had seven points and five boards. For Eugenio Maria, Hippo Vargas came alive for all 19 of his points after the first quarter and drilled a trio of three-pointers. Seth Patterson netted 11 points. Melvin Thomas (7), Jarvin Lewis (5), Miguel Chevere (4) and Justice Davis (2) rounded out the scoring for the Hornets.

For Elba, senior forward Angelo Penna had 12 of his 16 points after the opening period. Mike Long nailed three long-distance shots as part of his 11 points. Halsey poured in 14 points in the final stanza, including converting nine of his 10 made free throws. Owen Kenyon drained four long-range shots as part of his 14 points. Taj Amisano scored 11 points in three quarters. For Red Jacket, junior center Truman Hill netted 14 points in three quarters and corralled 10 rebounds for a double-double. Owen Cuba recorded a double-double as well, contributing 14 points and clearing 11 boards. Billy Covey added 9 and dished out 5 assists. For Naples, Colin Kenney and Matt Lincoln both netted three long-range shots. Kenney led with 10 points and Lincoln had nine. For Geneseo, senior guard Kellen O’Brien unloaded seven three-pointers as part of his 25 points in three stanzas. Sophomore guard Avery Hepler hit four long-range shots of his own for 12 points.
