Seven schools claimed sectional championships during the recent playoffs. Section V Girls’ Soccer acknowledged the student-athletes that led those teams and more with the 2023 All-Tournament Teams.
Fairport won the AAA title and Andrea Wilson led the way with the lone goal in overtime. The junior midfielder along with Gianna Romano, Mary Kate Rudnicki and Addison Tally highlighted the Class AAA All-Tournament team.
Sectional finalist Rush-Henrietta placed three players on the AAA All-Tournament team: Mallory Johnson, Layla McLean and Natalie Wood.
Spencerport’s Isabella Fiorillo, Jamie Keens, Lindsay Lenhard and Kendall Mesh highlighted the Class AA team. Lenhard registered six of the Rangers’ 17 goals throughout their run to an eighth straight championship. The junior midfielder added three assists, including setting up the lone score in a 1-0 victory over Victor in the quarterfinals. Fiorillo, who was credited a helper for three of Lenhard’s goals, recorded four assists total and added a goal in a 10-0 win over Greece Arcadia in the first round. Mesh spearheaded a backline which shut out all four of the Rangers’ opponents and even posted the first tally in a 3-0 victory over Webster Schroeder in the final.
Gia Catalano, Leah Marcell and Ellie Ockrin represented Class AA finalist Webster Schroeder on the All-Tournament team. Ockrin finished with 19 saves in sectional action. Marcell lifted the Warriors into the semifinals with the overtime game-winner in the quarterfinals and applied an assist in a 2-0 victory over Webster Thomas. Catalano guided the Warriors to six goals in four postseason matches.
Sophie Esders and Catherine Rogers from Webster Thomas earned the postseason honor. The midfield duo combined to assist six of the Titans’ seven goals. Esders netted a point in both the first round and quarterfinals while Rogers found the back of the net in a 4-0 win over Churchville-Chili.
Leonora Graff and Addison Larimer of Pittsford Mendon were named to the Class AA team. Larimer accounted for all of the Vikings’ offense in the first round with two assists and a goal in a 3-1 victory over Brockport. Graff led a backline which only allowed one goal through their first two sectional contests.
Brenna Burns (Victor), Keira Dall (Our Lady Of Mercy), Alice Marchese (Penfield) and Kate Rayburn (Greece Athena) rounded out the Class AA All-Tournament team. Marchese registered two assists and one goal for the Patriots. Burns accumulated nine stops and notched the Blue Devils’ fifth shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over Canandaigua in the first round. Dall sparked the Monarchs’ stunning victory over Hilton in the first round with two goals.
Sienna Fallone, Bella Muratore, Talia Norton and Liz Tantalo led Aquinas to its first title in six years and landed spots on the Class A All-Tournament team in doing so. Fallone connected on two goals – one in each half – in a 3-0 win over Greece Olympia in the semifinals and another in the championship game. The freshman midfielder stepped up with four assists in a 5-0 victory over Honeoye Falls-Lima in the first round. Muratore was credited a helper for Fallone’s goal in the final. Norton and Tantalo conducted a defense which shut out all three of its opponents. Tantalo and the Li’l Irish had amassed 14 clean sheets to that point in the season.
Alexandra Bova, Meghan Joerger and Callie Johnson from finalist Pittsford Sutherland earned spots on the team. Bova connected on three of the Knights’ seven goals in their two sectional wins, including the lone score in the semifinals against Palmyra-Macedon. Johnson added two points of her own in the 6-1 victory over Geneva in the quarterfinals.
Greece Olympia teammates Hannah Roxstrom and Sarah Tawaf both were named to the Class A All-Tournament team. Isabella Walsh and Kaitlyn Wright from Batavia garnered spots as well. Katie Adams (Honeoye Falls-Lima) and Addison Rice (Wayne) rounded out the Class A All-Tournament team. Adams scored a goal in the Cougars’ 7-0 victory over Eastridge in the first round.
A quartet of Haverling Rams headed up the Class B team. Leah Krelie, Keegan Smith, Triesta Sprague and Ella Yartym led Haverling to its fourth straight sectional title. Yartym displayed an offensive clinic in sectionals, exploding for nine goals in four games. This included unloading all six points in the Rams’ 6-0 victory over Wayland-Cohocton in the first round and the lone score against Le Roy in the quarterfinals. Krelie and Smith both found the back of the net and recorded an assist. Sprague helped a Haverling backline that shut out all of its opponents in sectionals.
Kyah Lajewski, Lauren McDermott and Peyton Verkey represented B finalist Mynderse on the All-Tournament team. McDermott had her head on a swivel with 26 saves combined between the first round and semifinals. Verkey assisted the Blue Devils’ first goal of sectionals. Lajewski ignited a defense which registered three shutouts and only allowed two points the entire tournament.
Aynsley Belcher and Megan Tyler helped Dansville to a semifinal and earned all-tournament honors. Belcher netted three goals while Tyler found the back of the net twice in the Mustangs’ 3-0 win over Penn Yan in the quarterfinals. Tyler added an assist in a 5-1 victory over Waterloo in the first round as well.

Avery Bernard and Olivia Feehan led Livonia to the semifinals as well. Feehan registered her lone goal in a 4-1 win over Midlakes in the first round and Feehan netted a point in a 2-0 victory over Canisteo-Greenwood/Jasper-Troupsburg in the quarterfinals.
Zoey Humphrey (Le Roy), Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger (Penn Yan), Lillian Mullen (Canisteo-Greenwood/Jasper-Troupsburg) and Madison Rudenauer (Hornell) rounded out the B team. Humphrey and Mullen both posted an assist in first-round wins for their respective teams.
Samantha Bates, Emma Brady, Isabella Thom and Zoey Wolf helped Holley to its first sectional championship in 29 years. Bates unloaded seven goals in three matches, including a hat trick in a 4-0 win over Red Creek in the quarterfinals. The senior midfielder netted a pair of scores apiece in the other two games and accounted for all of the Hawks’ offense in the final. Brady and Thom both found the back of the net in a 7-0 victory over Bloomfield in the semifinals.

Elizabeth Brandt, Anna Henner and Lauren Schmeelk all led Williamson to the C1 final and earned spots on the team. Brandt scored in all four of the Marauders’ matches, including twice each in the first round and quarterfinals and finished with six total. Henner stepped up with a pair of scores in the first round and a hat trick in the semifinals against Oakfield-Alamaba/Elba. Schmeelk had three goals in the first two games, including two in the quarterfinals against York/Pavilion.
Madalyn Hall and Piper Hyde helped Oakfield-Alabama/Elba to the semifinals as well as Sadie Kachmaryk and Marcy Kast of Bloomfield. Kast ignited the Bombers with two goals in the first round against Campbell-Savona and another in the quarterfinals against Warsaw. Kachmaryk shielded the net for 22 saves in Bloomfield’s two sectional victories.
Kendra Brace (Letchworth), Abigail Sanzotta (Red Creek), Ellie Tangeman (Warsaw) and Ella Tillotson (York/Pavilion) completed the C1 All-Tournament Team. Brace guided the Indians’ defense to a 3-0 win over Lyndonville/Barker in the first round. Tangeman put the Tigers on the board in the first half of their 2-1 victory over Bishop Kearney/Chesterton.
Byron-Bergen’s Grace DiQuattro, Mia Gray, MacKenzie Hagen and Elizabeth Starowitz highlighted the Class C2 All-Tournament team. Gray was the Bees’ offensive catalyst with eight goals in four games, including back-to-back hat tricks in the first round and quarterfinals. The sophomore midfielder added a goal in both the semifinals and final as well as five assists. Hagen finished right behind Gray with six sectional goals, highlighted by a four-score performance in a 9-0 dominance of Dundee/Bradford. Starowitz found the back of the net in each of the first three games. After netting a point in the first round, DiQuattro paced the offense with three goals and three assists combined in the semifnals and final.
Kelsey Davis, Braelyn Isaman and Ava Thayer helped Keshequa to the C2 finals and landed spots on the All-Tournament Team. Isaman was involved in the offense every game with four goals in the first round, a score apiece in the quarterfinals and final and an assist in the semifinals. Davis and Thayer both found the back of the net in the first round before assisting both of the Indians’ goals in the quarterfinals. Davis extended Keshequa’s lead and was credited the helper for the game-winner in the semifinals. Thayer stepped up with two goals in the final.
Gananda’s Ella Lathrop and Emerson Paull along with Wheatland-Chili’s Jaeda Mekker and Emily Parker also were named to the C2 team. Lathrop recorded three goals and a trio of assists in the Panthers’ two sectional wins. Paul contributed with two assists in a 10-0 win over Red Jacket in the first round and a goal in a 6-0 victory over Caledonia-Mumford in the quarterfinals. Mekker assisted Parker’s goal in the first round while Parker did so for Mekker in the quarterfinals. Parker ignited an attempted late rally in the second half of the semifinals by finding the back of the net twice.
Ava Amorese (Caledonia-Mumford), Polly Bay (Naples), Madison Hughes (Dundee/Bradford) and Madeline Mark (Geneseo) rounded out the C2 team. Bay guided the Big Green defense to a shutout of Perry in the first round. Hughes assisted the Bravescots’ second-half goal in their win over Alexander. Mark accounted for six of the Blue Devils’ seven goals in their victory over Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale with four goals, including two in each half, and two assists.
Fillmore’s Rachel Hatch, Delaney Hillman, Amelia Rose and Hope Russell topped the Class D All-Tournament team. Russell burst for nine of her 10 sectional goals in two games: five in the quarterfinals against Charles G. Finney and all four in the final against Northstar Christian. Hillman dished out four assists, including three to Russell. The senior forward scored the Eagles’ first goal of sectionals as well. Hatch and Rose both added a pair of dimes.
Aliyah Cuylear, Katelyn Demarest and Elliana Kaiser helped Northstar Christian to the D finals and earned nods on the All-Tournament team. Cuylear stopped 36 shots in three contests and registered a pair of shutouts. Demarest sparked a three-goal second half for the Knights with a pair in their 3-0 semifinals win over Genesee Valley/Belfast.
Hannah Southwick and Bayleigh Tallman of Genesee Valley/Belfast earned the postseason honor. Tallman accounted for three of the Jaguars’ eight goals. Southwick accumulated two goals and a pair of assists.
Mia Hosbach and Hannah Roegiers from Marion were named to the Class D team. Morghyn Ross (Friendship/Scio), Emma Sisson (Notre Dame Batavia), Madison Taylor (Avoca/Prattsburgh) and Kiara van der Jagt (Charles G. Finney) rounded out the D team. Ross totaled two goals and one assist in a 4-1 win over Lima Christian. Sisson had two helpers and a score in a 6-2 victory over Mount Morris. Taylor dished out a pair of assists in a 6-1 win over Hammondsport. van der Jagt spun a hat trick in the first round against Arkport-Canaseraga.
