Teams from six different leagues will vie for the 2023 Section V Class B Girls’ crown. Top-seeded Haverling is one of a half-dozen sides from the Livingston County Athletic Association. Five Finger Lakes squads along with one each from the Genesee Region, Monroe County, Steuben County, Wayne County and an Independent round out the field.
Haverling has won three straight Class B2 titles. League rival and seventh-seeded Livonia handed the No. 1 seed its only loss of the season when the LCAA rival met earlier this month. It was the Rams’ first loss to a Section V team since a 2-1 setback to Palmyra-Macedon in the 2021 Class B regional qualifier. Ella Yartym and Keegan Smith pace the offense while Lola Coots back stops a defense that has limited opponents to seven goals this season. Second-seeded Canisteo-Greenwood/Jasper-Troupsburg opened the the season unbeaten in its first 12 games.
