Greece Post 468 (25-3-1) saw its season come to an end on Sunday, falling 3-2 in walk-off fashion to Coffey Post 3 (Nashau, New Hampshire) at Fitton Field in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
Trailing 2-0, Kaleb Juliano led off the top of the seventh with a walk and them advanced to third on a double from Zach Allen. Juliano came home on a passed ball, which moved Allen to the corner. With two outs in the frame, Brody Froman delivered a first-pitch single to right field to score Allen.
Greece Post had runners at second and third in the sixth, thanks to back-to-back one-out singles from Tyler Stack and Jeffrey Broadnax.
Froman went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in the game. Connor Gresens went 2-for-3 with singles in the second and the fourth.
TJ Kurtz struck out three batters and gave up three hits and one earned run over five-and-a-third innings. Drew Bateman struck out two and gave up no hits over one-and-a-third innings of relief.
Bryceton Berry and Jaden Madrid each had a base hit.
Greece finished with a 9-4 advantage in hits.
For Coffey Post, Luke Anderson plated Jordan Delude with a two-out single to left to send the Defenders to the 2023 American Legion Baseball Northeast Regional championship game. Ryan Haskell followed Derek Finlay’s leadoff triple with an RBI-single to open the scoring in the fourth. Finlay walked and scored on an error in the sixth.
Elias Bourque struck out four and allowed nine hits over a complete game.
Coffey Post will play Trenton Acadians Post 207 (Ellswoorth, Maine) for the Northeast Regional title on Sunday for a spot in the 2023 American Legion Baseball World Series.
Greece Post claimed its second-consecutive New York State American Legion Senior Division Championship on July 27th with a 7-6 walk-off win over Broundshidle Post 205.
