Brody Froman went 3-for-4 and highlighted an offense which put crooked numbers on the board in each of the first two innings as Greece Post 468 (25-2-1) cruised to a 13-1 win in five innings over Trenton Acadians Legion Post 207 (Ellsworth, Maine), Saturday in the 2023 American Legion Baseball Northeast Regional action at Fitton Field in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
Froman sparked a three-run first with a one-out single. Tyler Stack and Jeffrey Broadnax followed with base hits before James Capellupo gave Greece a lead it did not surrender with a sacrifice fly. After a Connor Gresens walk, Kaleb Juliano delivered with an RBI single. Joe Sanna worked a bases loaded walk to cap the first-inning production.
Froman doubled in the second and later scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-1. Broadnax had a sacrifice fly to bring in Jaden Madrid to start the frame. Capellupo drew a two-out walk and came home when Juliano reached on an error for a 6-1 advantage.
Greece clinched the win with a a seven-run fifth inning.
Gresens walked to lead the inning, and Joe Sanna followed with a triple to start the scoring. Berry followed with a one-out double to plate Sanna. Froman added an RBI base hit. Stack brought in Jaden Madrid and Froman with a triple, before scoring when Broadnax reached on an error. Capellupo capped the innings with an RBI-base-hit to center.
Gresens struck out four batters and allowed three hits and one walk over five innings pitched. The University of Wisconsin-Platteville commit retired the final nine batters he faced. At the plate, Gresens reached base safely three times.
Stack was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Juliano went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Broadnax and Madrid both scored twice.
For Trenton Post, Peter Keblinky plated Hunter Curtis with a one-out double in the first. Curtis went 2-for-3 in the game.
After falling 7-0 to Essex Post 91 (Vermont), Greece has won three straight game to clinch a spot in Sunday’s game against Nashua Post 3 (New Hampshire). First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at Fitton Field in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
The winner will face Ellsworth (ME) for a spot in the American Legion World Series.
