The Rochester Red Wings dropped their second game in a row to host Scranton Wilkes/Barre Railriders 8-1 Wednesday evening.
Rochester has loss the opening two games of the series for the first time since May 4th when they dropped the first two games against Scranton Wilkes/Barre at home.
The Rochester offense struggled in Wednesday’s contest only producing one run on five hits and one walk.
Darren Baker led the Wings’ offense with a 2-for-4 performance including a solo home run in the sixth inning to push across the lone run. Travis Blankenhorn, Richie Martin and Jake Noll tallied the other three hits for Rochester.

The Railriders drove in runs for five straight innings starting in the second inning.
Franchy Cordero grounded out to score Everson Pereira who tripled to lead off the second inning to open up the scoring. The next inning Oswaldo Cabrera went deep to center field to put Scranton up two. Cordero in the fourth scored Pereira for a second time on a base hit with one out in the inning.
Austin Wells made it 4-0 Railriders in the fifth with a RBI base hit that scored Jamie Westbrook. Pereira scored Cabrera with a sacrifice fly in the same inning.
After the Baker solo home run in the top of the sixth inning, the Railriders had their biggest inning with a three run inning to put the game completely out of reach for Rochester. Cabrera scored Carlos Narvaez after he grounded out. Pereira finished off his strong performance at the plate with a two RBI base hit.
Jose Urena got the start for the Red Wings on Wednesday and struggled in the four and a third innings he pitched giving five runs on seven hits and one walk. Urena struck out five Railriders in his outing. Tommy Romero finished the game for Rochester surrendering three runs on four walks and five walks. Romero fanned three during his stint.
Rochester has given up five or more runs to the Railriders in 10 of the 14 games they have played this season so far.
Rochester has struggled on the road against the Railriders as they have only won two of the seven games they have played in Scranton.
The Rochester Red Wings (15-14/49-53) will look to get back in the win column as they continue their series with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders (14-13/48-53) Thursday at 6:35 p.m. Starting pitchers for both teams are to be announced.
