Chucky Sobaszek connected for a two-run single with two outs in the fifth to make it 6-1 and threw a complete game on the mound to lead Ely Fagan Post 1151 back to the American Legion Baseball District 7 finals. Sobaszek struck out three batters and allowed six hits and one earned run. Justin Angora went 2-for-3 with an RBI-double in the fourth. Cam Richards went 2-for-4 with a two-out single to open the scoring in the first. Alex Garcia plated Colby Wilson with a two-out single in the third to make it 2-0. Evan Brock went 2-for-4, and Kyle VanAuker and Wilson each had a hit. For Braman Post 1229, Andrew Gleason went 1-for-3 with a leadoff home run in the fifth. Alex Young and Matthew Bartusek scored when Gleason reached on an error with one out in the sixth. Young doubled to start the frame. Caleb Wilson went 2-for-3 with singles in the first and the sixth. Jake Weipert struck out three and gave up three hits through three innings of relief. Patrick Altpeter and Nate Hill both had a hit. Ely Fagan has won 10 of its last 12 games and will meet No.1 Greece Post 468 in a best-of-three series for the championship starting on Sunday at Greece Athena High School. This will be a rematch of last year’s finals.

NO. 1 GREECE POST 468 (16-0-1) 10 (6 INNINGS)
Jack Cannon and James Capellupo combined for five RBI, and Bryceton Berry struck out three batters over 4.1 innings of 2-hit ball to lead Greece Post 468 into the 2023 American Legion Baseball District 7 championship for the second-consecutive year. Cannon went 2-for-2 with a 2-RBI single in the fourth. Capellupo went 1-for-3 with three RBI. The designated hitter plated Cannon twice when he reached on an error in the second and delivered a sacrifice fly in the third. Brody Froman went 2-for-3 and drove home Cannon with a single to left field in the third. Kaleb Juliano singled in the second and added a sacrifice fly in the third. Jeffrey Broadnax went 2-for-4 with a double. Aiden Cook retired the final five batters in order with two strikeouts. Zach Allen and Connor Gresens both walked in a run. Jaden Madrid had a hit. For Rayson Miller Post 899, Andrew Holvey and Nate Weber each had a hit. Greece Post 468 will play No. 2 Ely Fagan Post 1151 in a best-of-three series for the championship starting on Sunday at Greece Athena High School. A 1 PM first pitch is scheduled for Game 1. Last year, Greece Post won the finals two games of the series to claim the title.
