Center fielder Derek Hill hit three doubles and knocked in three RBI as the Rochester Red Wings defeated the Toledo Mud Hens, 12-7, on Saturday.
Rochester’s 12 runs tied the team’s high for the season, matching its 12-7 win against Worcester on May 11. Rochester scored all of its runs in the first six innings and held a 12-0 lead until the Mud Hens scored three in the sixth and four in the eighth.

The Red Wings jumped on Toledo starter Ashton Goudeau immediately in the top of the first. Darren Baker, playing left field for the third time this season, led off with a double. Third baseman Carter Kieboom followed up with a double of his own to score Baker and open the score, 1-0. Kieboom scored the second run later in the inning on a sacrifice fly by Franmil Reyes.
Hill hit the first of his trio of doubles in the second, bringing home Matt Adams and Richie Martin to provide the first two runs of what would ultimately be a six-run inning. Kieboom would later bring home Hill with a single to make it 5-0. Second baseman Jake Alu followed Kieboom with a single to score Baker, and Kieboom scored on a Reyes groundout to make it 7-0. Rochester scored its final run of the inning on a double by Matt Adams to extend the lead to 8-0.
Rochester scored its remaining runs in the fifth and sixth, including two sacrifice flies by Drew Millas, another RBI double from Hill, and an RBI single by Baker.
Hill’s three doubles set a season-high for the Rochester Red Wings. Adams’ 4-for-5 night tied a season-high for the team in hits.
On the mound, Wily Peralta started the game and went five innings, allowing three hits while striking out six to earn his first win of the season.
Rochester has now ensured a series win against Toledo. The series and the Red Wings’ two-week road trip concludes on Sunday with a 6:05 game. Paolo Espino is Rochester’s probable starter.
