The Rochester Americans open the Calder Cup Eastern Conference finals on Tuesday night at Hershey and Games 1 and 2 of the series will be televised on MSG.
MSG is picking up the feed from WPMT Fox 43 of York, Pa. Both games start at 7 p.m.
MSG, the television rightsholder for the parent Buffalo Sabres, is hoping to televise the home games as well. Those plans will be announced later in the week, should they come to fruition.
The best-of-seven series moves to Rochester for Games 3 and 4 (7:05 p.m. Saturday, 6:05 p.m. Monday).
Amerks coach Seth Appert said that winger Linus Weissbach should be good to go for the series opener. He missed the final two games of the North Division finals sweep of Toronto.
Also, forward Matt Savoie will likely play during the series once he is acclimated to the team and the process, Appert said. Savoie was a first-round pick (ninth overall) by the Sabres last year.
Savoie produced 38-57-95 in 62 regular-season games for Winnipeg of the Western Hockey League, then had 11-18-29 in 19 playoff games. His junior season ended on Friday.
This is the first appearance by the Amerks in the conference finals since 2004. They haven’t reached the Calder Cup finals since 2000.
