One team is looking to make its 11th appearance in regionals. The other is coming off its first sectional championship in program history. The Lyons Lions and Pembroke Dragons tip-off Thursday night with a spot in the New York State Class C quarterfinals on the line. Here’s the breakdown:
PEMBROKE DRAGONS (22-1/ Genesee Region I)

Current streak: Pembroke has not lost a game since Dec. 6th, winning 22 straight. The Dragons had won six consecutive by double digits before Sunday’s Class C2 finals. Lyons has won 14 in a row all by 11 or more points.
Scoring offense: Pembroke (76.4 PPG), Lyons (81.1 PPG)
Scoring defense: Pembroke (47.5), Lyons (44.3 PPG)

How they arrived here: Pembroke opened the postseason with an 81-55 victory over Alexander before beating Bolivar-Richburg, 61-39 and York, 62-59 in the C2 final. Lyons started its run with an 85-60 victory over C.G. Finney, before beating Warsaw, 70-48. The Lions won their 21st title in program history with a 67-45 triumph over Wheatland-Chili in the C3 championship game and ended Northstar Christian’s six-game winning streak with an 82-71 triumph in the sub-regional.
