Tournament MVP Morgan Caraballo scored nine of her game-high 22 points during a decisive 25-2 run to close the third quarter, and the top-seeded Waterloo girls’ basketball team claimed its third straight sectional title with a 65-57 win over No. 2 Palmyra-Macedon in Class B1 action, Saturday morning at Rush-Henrietta high school. Madelyn Moore posted 13 points, 10 rebounds and six assists to lead Hornell to its first sectional championship in program history. The Class B2 Tournament MVP recorded eight points in the second quarter as the Red Raiders outscored Dansville 29-24 in the second half, after leading 25-23 at half. Reagan Evingham added 10 of 14 of her points and a pair of treys in the first half, to go with five boards, one assist and a steal. The eighth-grader received all-tournament honors. Payton Bentley contributed 10 points, six boards, two steals, two triples and one block. Selena Maldonado registered seven points, four assists, three boards, and two steals, and the freshman was named to the all-tournament team. Jordyn Dyring finished with seven points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block. Lillian Hoyt (3) went 3-for-3 from the foul line in the third quarter, and the sophomore grabbed three rebounds and dished out one assist. For Dansville, Chelsie Tyler led all scorers with 16 points including four triple, and the junior received an all-tournament nod. Taylor Hamsher added 10 and was named to the All-Tournament team. Kali Meyer scored seven of her nine points and hit two from distance in the final stanza. Aynsley Belcher tacked on six and Megan Tyler (4) went 2-for-2 from the line. Amma Allen had two. The Red Raiders will play Waterloo in the Class B1 regional qualifier on Tuesday. Sara Reitz (Wellsville) and Maddie Verkey (Mynderse) also received all-tournament honors.

Ava Thayer, Libby Benner and Braelyn Isaman each scored in the double-digits to lead Keshequa to its eighth sectional total in program history. Thayer recorded 18 points, three assists and one steal, and Benner added 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block. Isaman posted 14 points, six boards, three assists and two steals. Anna Linde chipped in seven, grabbed four boards and swiped two steals. Riley Nageldinger tacked on two. Ryley Benner had five rebounds, two steals, one assist and a block. The Indians last won a sectional championship in 2020 as members of Class C2. Keshequa will play Andover/Whitesville on Monday in the Class D regional qualifier.
