Two 20-plus win teams will square off for the first time this season with the Class C2 title on the line. Last year champions, Pavilion are looking to go back-to-back for the first time in program history, while Dundee/Bradford is seeking its first title in program history. Both teams will meet Saturday in the 2023 Section V Class C2 Girls’ Basketball Championship. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Pavilion opened with a 69-37 win over No. 14 Red Jacket and proceeded to take down No. 6 Byron-Bergen, 49-25 in the quarterfinals. The Golden Gophers went on to defeat No. 2 Notre Dame-Batavia, 51-42 in the semifinals. Dundee/Bradford beat No. 13 Wheatland-Chili, 57-20 and outlasted No. 5 Caledonia-Mumford, 51-47 in the quarterfinals. The BraveScots knocked off No. 1 Lyons, 67-56 to earn a spot in the finals.

History 101: The two teams have not met this season. Pavilion is making its third finals appearance in three years. The Golden Gophers are seeking their third title in program history and third since 2020. The team captured the 2022 Class C2 title with a 46-42 will over Gananda. Dundee/Bradford is seeking its first sectional title in program history. The BraveScots lost in last year’s Class C3 finals to York, 42-35.
What’s Next: The winner will play the Class C2 champion (either Canisteo-Greenwood or Oakfield-Alabama) in the NYC Class C Far West Regional Qualifier.
A 4:15 p.m. tip-off is scheduled at Rush-Henrietta High School.
