Two of the top three seeds will meet to decide the Class B2 championship. Dansville is seeking its second sectional title since 2019, and Hornell is looking to bounce-back from last year’s loss in the Class B1 finals. Both teams will face off on Saturday in the 2023 Section V Class B2 Girls’ Basketball Championship. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Dansville opened with a 56-45 victory over No. 9 Penn Yan in the quarterfinals before defeating No. 4 Wellsville, 51-38 in the semifinals. Hornell downed No. 6 Le Roy, 70-40 in the quarterfinals and knocked off No. 2 Mynderse, 61-56 in the semifinals.

History 101: Dansville and Hornell met twice this year on January 20th and February 10th. The Mustangs took the first meeting, 44-43, and Hornell won the second meeting, 65-56.
Dansville is playing for its third sectional title and first since they won back-to-back championships in 2019 and 2020. Hornell is seeking its first title in program history.
What’s Next: The winner will play the Class B1 champion (either Waterloo or Palmyra-Macedon) in the NYS Class B Far West Regional Qualifier.
A 12:45 p.m. tip-off is scheduled at Rush-Henrietta High School.
