Josh Harter CEB Thursday Girls’ Basketball Wrap: Marvin scores 1,000th career point in Gananda win; Reilly stuffs stat sheet to lead Elba

CLASS B2

Natalie Adams scored 11 points while Averee Palmatier and Jaden Dunbar added eight apiece as Wellsville advanced to face the Dansville-Penn Yan winner in the semifinals. Lindsay Stuck accounted for seven points. Sara Reitz (6) and Makenna Dunbar (4) rounded out the scoring for the Lions.

CLASS C1

Kaylee Marvin finished with a game-high 20 points including the 1,000th of her career. The junior forward connected nine times from the floor and converted a pair of free throws in the win. Nicole Cruz added nine points while Eva Jenny had nine for Gananda which won its fourth straight game and 13th in the past 14. Madi Dohse (7), Katie Rothwell (4), Ella Lathrop (4) and Nyah Cruz (2) rounded out the scoring for the Blue Panthers who will play No. 6 Bloomfield in the quarterfinals. Morgan Brace led the Letchworth offense with five points. Annike Milillo (4), Charity Scott (3), Hana Gill (2), Annetta Owen (2) and Abigale DeRock (2) also scored for Letchworth.

CLASS C2

NO. 9 CUBA-RUSHFORD (9-12) 18
NO. 8 PERRY (10-11) 44

Jaelyn Morris scored 13 points, and Nellie Koronas added 11 to lead Perry into the quarterfinals. Maddie Monteleone accounted for six in the win. Emma True (4), Jade Duffin (4), Meredith Petri (2), Emma Darocha (2) and Sydney Hnat (2) rounded out the scoring for the Yellowjackets who will play top-seeded Lyons in the round of eight. Taylor Searle led the Cuba-Rushford offense with nine points. Emma Retz (3), Aubrey Williams (2), Brynn Lavery (2) and Raegan Poore (2) also scored for the Rebels.

CLASS D2

NO. 9 HOUGHTON ACADEMY (7-14) 47
NO. 8 JASPER-TROUPSBURG (7-14) 40

Houghton will face No. 1 seed Andover/Whitesville in the quarterfinals.

Scio/Friendship advances to face No. 2 Northstar Christian in the quarterfinals.

NO. 11 HINSDALE (0-21) 24
NO. 6 ELBA (11-10) 79

Sydney Reilly finished with 24 points, seven steals, seven rebounds, a block and a steal to lead Elba into the quarterfinals. Lydia Ross added 13 points, six steals and two assists in the win. Halie Deville accounted four eight points, four rebounds and three steals. Ava Chatt and Kennedy Augello had seven points and six rebounds apiece. Mariah Ognibene (6), Ava Buczek (6), Alahna Chatt (4), Maddie Hall (2) and Adison Norton (2) rounded out the scoring for the Lancers. Elba will face No. 3 C.G. Finney in the quarterfinals.
