New Paltz, NY – The SUNY Brockport women’s basketball was unable to give New Paltz its first conference loss of the season, falling 60-37 on the road. Brockport is now 10-13 overall and 7-9 in the SUNYAC.

Stephanie Jean-Baptiste and Juan Brown were the leading scorers for the Green and Gold, as both put up nine points on the day.

The Hawks were able to take a slim lead early in the opening quarter, but Brockport was ready with an answer. With 1:50 left in the first the team took its first lead of the game at 13-11. However, New Paltz would tie the score up at 13-13 heading into the second.

New Paltz controlled the majority of the second quarter, holding a 23-15 lead at the midpoint of the period. After several minutes of scoreless play, the Hawks created an 11-point lead with less than two minutes before halftime. Brockport entered the locker room trailing 28-21.

After the halftime break, New Paltz took over completely. The home team got hot from long range and outscored the Golden Eagles, 27-10, in the third quarter. They would face a 24-point deficit as the fourth quarter approached.

Neither team offered much offense in the final period, as Brockport outscored the opponent just 6-5 in the fourth. With the game in hand, the Hawks cruised through the finish line for the 23-point win at home.

Still fighting to clinch a spot in the conference tournament, the Golden Eagles will close out the regular season at home next weekend with a pair of games. They will host Oswego on Friday, February 17th at 5:30pm before taking on Buffalo State that Saturday at 3pm.
