ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Ryan Deuel (Pittsford Mendon) and Reggie Smith, Jr. (Brighton) helped their squads to a pair of wins. Jake Insley and Webster Schroeder clinched a divisional title while William Brown-Nelson and Greece Olympia knocked off a crosstown foe. The four student-athletes were named Player of the Week (January 30-February 4th) for their respective divisions as announced by Monroe County coaches.
Smith opened the week with a 20-point, six-rebound performance in the Bruins 85-56 win over Gates on his way to being named Monroe County Division I Player of the Week (POTW). The junior forward/guard also handed out three assists and blocked two shots. He followed that with a 14-point, seven-rebound effort as Brighton avenged an earlier loss with a 57-49 win over Penfield. The 6-foot-5 junior converted on all six of his free-throw attempts and had two assists in the win.

Insley scored 21 points as Schroeder clinched the Monroe County Division II crown with a 55-50 win over crosstown rival, Webster Thomas. The junior guard averaged 19 points, five assists and four rebounds over two games last week. Insley shot 68 percent from the floor in those two contests to earn Division II POTW.
Deuel averaged 20 points per game and shot better than 59 percent from the floor to earn Division III POTW. The junior guard connected on 5-of-10 field goals and scored 12 points in Mendon’s win over Brockport to start the week. Deuel capped his week with a 28-point outing in a win over Eastridge when he connected on 11-of-17 attempts including 5-of-7 from behind the 3-point arc. He also grabbed five rebounds in both games while handing out three assists in the win over Eastridge.
Brown-Nelson logged a double-double in Olympia’s win over Greece Odyssey to earn Monroe County Division IV POTW. The junior forward scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. He connected on 11-of-16 attempts from the floor including 3-of-5 from distance. He also had two blocks and steal in the win.
