Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men’s basketball team took down the Fredonia Blue Devils, 95-74, for a third consecutive victory. Thanks to five double-digit scorers in the game, Brockport is now 10-3 overall and 5-1 in the SUNYAC.

Tony Arnold was one of three players to score 19 points in the contest. Arnold was efficient offensively going 4-for-6 from the field, 2-for-2 from deep, and 9-for-10 at the line. He also dished out five assists and came up with four steals.

David Grady III and Mekhi Beckett both shot well on the way to 19 points each. DGIII was 7-for-12 from the floor and 5-for-6 on free throws. Beckett did his damage from deep with a 4-for-7 effort from long range.

Colby Jordan tied his season-highs of 11 points and seven rebounds. He shot a healthy 7-for-8 at the charity stripe. Freshman Zachary Rice hit double-digits for just the second time in his career, posting a career-high 11 points.

The Golden Eagles got off to a solid start on their home floor, taking a 12-7 lead about five minutes into the contest. Fredonia made it a 2-point game at the 11:36 mark, but Brockport would soon go on a big run.

The squad went on a 12-0 run to take a 28-14 lead in a five-minute span. By the end of the first half the Green and Gold would own a 16-point edge on the scoreboard.

Mekhi Beckett took it upon himself to extend the lead early on in the second half. He scored 11 of the team’s first 13 points to start the half, pushing the Brockport advantage to 62-39.

The visiting Blue Devils found some rhythm, cutting their deficit to 15 points near the 12-minute mark. However, it was as close as they would get with the Golden Eagles able to thwart any comeback attempts.

Brockport would lead by as many as 24 points against its conference opponent at home. The team would hold on to its large lead through the finish line, taking the 95-74 win over Fredonia.

The Golden Eagles now look ahead to a highly anticipated rematch against SUNY Cortland, after a 63-60 loss to the Red Dragons back in December. Tip-off is scheduled for 4pm on Tuesday, January 10th down in Cortland, NY.
