BUFFALO, NY – Nazareth was unable to overcome its worst shooting performance of the season at 30 percent from the field (18-for-60) on Friday night, falling 64-52 at Medaille in a conference showdown.  It was the Golden Flyers first conference loss of the season and snapped a six-game winning streak. The matchup was also the first-ever with Medaille as a member of the Empire since joining in the 2022-23 season.

Nazareth falls to 7-4 on the year and 3-1 in league play with the loss, while Medaille improves to 3-6 and 1-2, respectively.

Graduate student Jadyn Abrams eclipsed the 1,500-point club at Nazareth with her 13-point effort. She now has 1502 points for her career and sits fifth on the all-time list at Nazareth.

The Golden Flyers had their best quarter to open the game, going 6-for-13 (46.2 percent) to build a 19-13 margin.

In the second quarter Nazareth managed to score just seven points and the Mavericks took advantage with a halftime lead of 29-26.

The Golden Flyers were able to trim an early seven-point deficit in the third quarter with an 8-0 run over a 3.5 minute span, capped by Brielle Reidinger giving Naz its only lead of the lead of the second half at 34-33 with 4:29 to play in the third quarter.

Medaille led 44-40 with a quarter to play.

The game remained close with back-and-forth action into the fourth quarter. Chelsea Woodsum nailed a 3-pointer with 5:11 to remaing, bringing Nazareth within 51-47.

Nazareth went cold after that, however, and did not score a point for a nearly five minute stretch which allowed the hosts to take control of the game at 60-47 with just over a minute to play.

Kim Davis chipped in 11 and six rebounds.

Brille Reidinger nearly had a double-double in the losing effort with nine points and 11 rebounds. Katie MacLachlan finished with eight points and four boards.

Nazareth will look to get back on track on Saturday, traveling to Houghton for a 2 p.m. contest.
