WORCESTER, MA – Senior Jordan Haggard scored 21 points off the bench including six points in the final seven minutes as the Nazareth Men’s Basketball team scored 18 pf the last 21 points in the contest to post an 82-63 win Friday in the second game of the Clark University Holiday Tournament against the host Cougars.
The game was close early before Haggard sparked a 10-0 run to stretch out a six point lead to a 16-point advantage for Nazareth (8-1), ranked #25 in the latest D3hoops.com national poll.
Clark (8-3) rallied in the second half and chipped away at the Nazareth lead to cut the score to 64-60 with 7:18 left to play.
Haggard and freshman Jaylen Savage led an offensive rush to close the game. Each player scored six points as sophomore Jack Broderick added a basket and graduate student Zach Stenglein add a long 3-pointer to cap the 18-1 Nazareth run.
Clark added late free throws for the final score.
Haggard led five players into double figures scoring with his game-high 21. Broderick added 15 and Savage had 13 while Stenglein and fellow graduate student Jonathan Park chipped in 11 points each.
Stenglein added eight assists and three steals and Park led the way with nine rebounds.Nazareth returns to action January 3 with Empire 8 conference action at Keuka.
