UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men’s basketball senior guard Jalen Pickett has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

Pickett was one assist shy of his second triple-double of the season in Penn State’s Thursday win over Quinnipiac, finishing with 21 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists with zero turnovers against the Bobcats. It marked his fourth double-double of the season and fifth 20-point game of the year. Pickett now has four games this season with 20+ points, 5+ rebounds and 5+ assists.

Pickett is the only player in the country averaging 16/7/7 with his season-long marks of 16.6 points per game, 7.7 rebounds per game and 7.8 assists per contest. Only three college basketball players since 1992 have finished the season averaging 16/7/7.

The Rochester, N.Y. native leads the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.65) and ranks third in the country in assists per game (7.8). He is the only player in the Big Ten in the top 10 in the conference in scoring (16.6 ppg – fifth), rebounding (7.8 rpg – eighth) and assists (7.8 apg – first).

Pickett is one of just three active Division I players with career marks of 1,700 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists. He ranks second amongst active Division I players in career assists with 691 assists.

Pickett earns the first Big Ten Player of the Week award of his career. He is the first Nittany Lion to be named Big Ten Player of the Week since Lamar Stevens on Feb. 10, 2020.

Pickett and the Nittany Lions return to action Thursday when Penn State hosts Delaware State in the non-conference finale at 2 p.m. inside the Bryce Jordan Center.
