Fusion Digital Monday Girls’ Basketball Wrap: Funk, East Rochester improve to 2-0; Cuba-Rushford, Mount Morris record first wins

Senior guard Taylor Searle outscored the entire Hinsdale team, finishing with 21 points to lead Cuba-Rushford to its first win. Emma Retz (7), Tara Duvall (6), Brynn Lavery (4), Shea Maples (4), Destiny Darrin (3), Cloey Larabee (3), Aleah Demick (2), Kendall Tompkins (2) and Aubrey Williams (1) rounded out the scoring for the Rebels.

Maria Caceres Pou and Denishka Valentin both scored 12 points as Mount Morris grinded out a road win in the season opener. For Honeoye, Ava Higgins led with a game-high 13 points. Marianna Hodgins posted a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds as Palmyra-Macedon came out on top in its season opener. The junior center added three steals as well. Sophomore guard Taryn Goodness stuffed the box score with 12 points, five assists, one rebound and a steal. Erika Mitchell and Georgia Wirth both added nine points. Wirth grabbed six boards, swiped a pair of steals and handed out an assist as well. Freshman guard Julia Belanger accumulated 11 rebounds, dished out four dimes and swatted a shot. Molly Seither (3) and Elise Tome (2) rounded out the scoring for the Red Raiders.

Senior forward Lily Funk led three players in double figures with 17 points as East Rochester recorded its first road win of the season. Zarriah Eldridge followed up with 13 points while Aniyah Eldridge rounded out the trio with 11. Gianna Romach (4), Emma Romach (3), Aaliyah Carmichael (2) and Giovanna Morreale (2) rounded out the scoring for the Bombers.
