Class B1 title on the line when Hornell and Livonia meet for the third time this season

Livingston County Athletic Association rivals square off for the third time this season. Section V Class B1’s top-seeded teams will battle it out to determine a champion. Here’s what you need to know:

No. 1 seed HORNELL RED RAIDERS (15-1-0/Livingston County Division I) vs. No. 2 LIVONIA BULLDOGS (16-1-1/Livingston County Division I)

How they got here: Hornell opened sectionals with a 11-1 win in the quarterfinals over No. 9 seed Batavia before knocking off No. 4 Greece Olympia, 5-1 in the semifinals. Livonia shutout No. 7 seed Palmyra Macedon, 4-0 and defeated No. 3 seed Attica/Alexander 2-0 in the semifinals.

Total goals scored: Hornell (74), Livonia (67)

Total goals allowed: Hornell (8), Livonia (11)

Last time they met: The two teams split regular-season meetings, with Livonia topping Hornell 2-0 on September 6th. Hornell avenged the loss with a 2-1 win on October 3rd.

Trends: Hornell has won 14 consecutive games and has shut out its opponents ten times this season. Livonia is 8-1-1 in their last 10 games and have won its last five games. The Bulldogs have not allowed a goal in their last three matches.

Players to watch for Hornell: Jack Emo Jr. MF 25 goals, 8 assists; Shawn Rose Sr. MF 13 goals, 15 assists; Gates Miller Sr. GK/D 2 goals, 1 assist, 35 saves, 5 goals allowed, 940 minutes in goal; Liam Khork Sr. A 7 goals, 9 assists; Wyatt Evingham So. MF 7 goals, 5 assists.

Livonia: Jackson McEnerney Sr. MF 11 goals, 7 assists; Luke Fasso Sr. A 8 goals, 3 assists; Peter Tonkery Sr. GK 76 saves, 6 goals allowed, 1115 minutes in goal; Connor Feehan Jr. A 14 goals, 7 assists; Colin Ullock So. A 11 goals, 8 assists.

Coaches: Jim Tobin (Hornell), Ray Maxwell (Livonia)

History 101: Livonia is looking to clinch its eighth appearance in regionals and first since 2016 when the Bulldogs reached the state quarters for the fifth straight year. Kearney/Chesterton is looking to advance to the state tournament for the second time. Kearney last reached the state quarters in 2004.

Kickoff is scheduled for Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. The game will be played at Canandaigua Academy.
