Livingston County Athletic Association meets Wayne County with a championship on the line. Avon and Williamson will determine the fate of the Section V Class C1 Boys’ title on Saturday afternoon at Honeoye Falls-Lima High School. Here’s what you need to know:
No. 1 seed AVON BRAVES (18-0-0/Livingston County Division II) vs. No. 6 seed WILLIAMSON MARAUDERS (10-8-1/Wayne County)
How they got here: Avon opened sectionals with a 7-0 win over No. 9 seed Canisteo-Greenwood and got a 1-0 win over No. 5 seed Geneseo in the semifinals. Williamson beat No. 11 seed Gananda 5-1 to in the pre-quarterfinals and earned a 2-0 victory over No. 3 East Rochester in the quarterfinals. The defending champions earned a title berth with a 3-2 win over No. 2 seed Pavilion/York.

Trends: Avon has held opponents scoreless in their last 15 matches and have allowed goals in only two games all season. Williamson came off a 5-1 defeat against Livonia prior to entering the playoffs and have beaten higher seeded opponents in their last two wins, outscoring their opponents 10-to-3.

History 101: Avon is seeking its first sectional title in the history of their boys’ soccer program. The teams last met in the 2021 Class C1 semifinals, when the Marauders claimed a 1-0 win over the Braves on October 27, 2021. Williamson is seeking back-to-back sectional titles for the second time in their program’s history. The Marauders last repeated in 2011 (Class CC) and 2012 (Class C1). The Williamson Boys’ soccer program has claimed 10 sectional titles since its start in 1937.
Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at 12 p.m. at Honeoye Falls-Lima High School.
