One team is seeking its second straight title. The other is looking for its first championship in 17 years. Fillmore and Harley-Allendale-Columbia will meet Friday to decide the 2022 Section V Class D1 Boys’ Soccer Championship. Here’s the breakdown:

How they got here: Fillmore (No. 2 NYSSWA Class D) opened with a 9-0 win over No. 8 seed Alfred-Almond in the quarterfinals before advancing past No. 4 seed Keshequa, 3-0, in the semifinals. Harley-Allendale-Columbia (No. 8 NYSSWA Class D) defeated No. 7 seed Genesee Valley/Belfast, 1-0, in the quarterfinals and took down No. 6 seed Arkport-Canaseraga, 2-1, in the semifinals.

History 101: Fillmore is making its fourth consecutive sectional final appearance and seeking its second straight title and third in the last 11 years. In 2019, the top-seeded Eagles won the D1 block over Avoca, 2-0, and concluded the season with a state semifinals berth. In 2020, the Eagles finished as the top seed in sectionals again, but came up short in the championship match to Keshequa, 2-0. Last season, the Eagles’ 2-0 title victory over Arkport-Canaseraga propelled them to the state final. Harley-Allendale-Columbia is seeking its third sectional title in program history and first since winning back-to-back class C championships in 2004 and 2005. The Wolves are making their first appearance in this match since 2013 as well when, as a No. 4 seed, they fell to Jasper-Troupsburg, 2-0.
A 7:30 p.m. kickoff is scheduled at Perry High School.
