WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. — Maddy Langley won a straight-set decision at first singles, and Hazel Jokl rallied to win second singles as the Honeoye Falls-Lima Cougars defeated East Aurora (VI), 4-1 in the New York State Division 2 Far West Regionals, Saturday at the Miller Tennis Center.
With the win, HF-L advanced to the NYSPHSAA team semifinals.
Langley defeated Gigi Perry 7-6(6), 6-3. Jokl overcame a first-set loss to beat Lilly Miller 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. Ava Youngblut and Ellie Casler defeated Emma Dolan and Cameryn Bauman at first doubles, 6-2, 6-4 while Mary Repass and Sydney Emerson claimed second doubles, 6-3, 7-6 (3) over Isabel Hahl and Maya Keller.
The state semis will take place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY on November 4th.
In Division 1, Clarence defeated Pittsford Mendon 4-3. Mendon claimed in second doubles as Sophie Khan and Vasu Jaligama defeated Eleni Dek and Gianni Hallam 6-4, 6-4. Mendon’s Sia Patel and Aiza Ahmed defeated Chelsea Fuchs and Gemma Hacker in third doubles, 7-5, 6-1. Mendon’s fourth doubles team of Jiwoo Han and Grace Wu defeated Violet Beyer and Emma Brewer 6-1, 6-2.
HF-L advanced to the NYSPHSAA team semifinals to be played at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. on November 4th.
