Highlighting SOME of Section V’s top performers from the last two weeks of September (9/19 -10/1). Please note that this continues the series from the 2021 season that culminated with end-of-the year honors for last year’s seniors, juniors and sophomores. Included on those postseason teams were Chase Alexandre (Brighton), Alex Cook (Wayne), Lee Hartke (Avon), Wrianna Hudson (Greece Athena), Maya Ikewood (Palmyra-Macedon), Maria Karipidis (Honeoye Falls-Lima), Myles Palmer (Fairport) and Ali Shabani (Aquinas) among others. Details of those selections can be read by following this link. This Starting XI represents an effort to add more names to that list.
CLARE BOESEL Senior Goalkeeper, Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders (Finger Lakes East) — Boesel has figured out how to improve on a 2021 campaign that saw her anchor a Pal-Mac defense that registered 11 shutouts in the regular season, developing her footwork, Boesel has taken control in and around the six-yard box, she looks particularly strong in corner kick situations where she commands the area in front of her goal, confident hands and comfortable off the line, Boesel allows few second-ball chances for opposing offenses.
JULIA D’ANZA Sophomore Defensive Mid, Our Lady of Mercy (Private-Parochial) — A defensive stalwart who is capable of marking any of the top scorers in Section V, she anticipates the play well and understands the value of defending before an opponent gets the ball, if the opposing player gains possession, D’Anza has the ability to dictate the direction taken.
CHARLIE DORRINGTON Senior Goalkeeper, Geneva Panthers (Finger Lakes East) — Impressive blend of athleticism and skill, Dorrington demonstrates quick and confident reactions, understands when and how to leave his line for an advantage and does so with conviction, strong and sure hands, he is capable of securing the first shot.

ISABELLA FIORILLO Junior Defensive Center Mid, Spencerport Rangers (Monroe County II) — A commanding presence in the middle third, Fiorillo has an innate ability to gain the advantage in 50/50 situations, strong on the ball, she needs few touches to create for teammates, routinely switches field with purpose, sees one play ahead and uses that ability to take away scoring opportunities for opponents.
MEGAN FRY Senior Goalkeeper, Webster Schroeder Warriors (Monroe County I) — Two years removed from an injury that wiped out her 2020 season, Fry has returned to form anchoring a Schroeder defense that has 12 clean sheets on the season, a fearless competitor, she is comfortable making plays on the line and knows when to leave and attack the opposing ballhandler, strong with her first touch, if you get a second-ball from Fry, take advantage of it.
ZACH LASHER Senior Center Back, Wayne Eagles (Finger Lakes East) — Calming presence along the backline for a Wayne squad that has 13 clean sheets on the season, strong instincts, Lasher understands how to use angles for his advantage in running down opposing ballhandlers, maintains an upper hand in 50/50 situations, he has the innate ability to gain possession and create for teammates in transition; underrated playmaker who can initiate the offense from the defensive half.
CASEY MONTESANO Senior Attack, McQuaid Jesuit Knights (RCAC) — Confident frontline creator who plays with conviction, Montesano is capable of receiving in stride and making plays within two touches, strong on the ball, he creates an imposing presence because defenders have to account for his quick-strike ability, makes strong runs off the ball to create a target for teammates.
DOMINIC PATTI Junior Attack, Avon Braves (Livingston County Athletic Association) — Accomplishes plenty with limited touches, Patti moves well off the ball and understands the value of staying with the play, working in a lineup with the likes of Lee Hartke and Hudson Volpe, Patti thrives on the attention of opposing defenses on his teammates, strong finisher inside the 18-yard box; a willing defender he understands how to go off and to the ball to take away opposing movement.
EMILY PEACOCK Ninth-Grade Forward/Midfielder, Spencerport Rangers (Monroe County II) — Emerging frontline player who provides a strong target for teammates, Peacock is adept at redirecting the ball on first touch but is at her best turning and attacking the backline, confident shooter she doesn’t shy away from opportunities, she sees angles for teammates and is capable of playing the ball with pace to create chances.
KYAN TIEDE Junior Midfielder, Pavilion/York (Livingston County Athletic Association) — Proficient creator on the frontline, Tiede does a lot with limited touches, he makes quick and sound decisions with the ball and understands how to play with pace and create for others; tireless defender, he is strong on the ball and shows the ability to make a quick transition from defense to offense.
ALFONSO VITO Junior Midfielder, Aquinas Li’l Irish (Private-Parochial) — A constant threat to create or score, Vito consistently makes aggressive runs with and without the ball, a capable finisher, he needs very little space to get in scoring position, makes effective decisions with possession as to either create or attack; proficient defender who anticipates the play and can disrupt an opposing offense.
