ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Four different players found the end zone, and the defense forced four turnovers as the host Monroe Red Jackets cruised to a 26-7 win over Honeoye Falls-Lima, Saturday afternoon.
The win was the third straight for the Red Jackets which improved their record to 4-2 on the season.
“That feels really good,” said junior quarterback Khaya Moses who completed 10-of-18 passes on the day for 117 yards and one touchdown. “We’ve been preparing for this all season. We just came in and played.”

Moses connected with Landan McKnight for 23 yards to set up a Roberto Robinson touchdown to give Monroe 14-0 lead midway through the second quarter.
The completion came on a slant route, something Moses used with frequency to loosen the HF-L defense.

“They were there because we had our run, run, run,” he explained. “Once we drew them in, then we started to hit them with the slants. Really it was just picking and choosing. Wherever the linebacker goes, I was going opposite.”
Moses connected on three straight passes in a five-play, 45-yard drive to end the second quarter.
After Robert Arnold rushed for seven yards to open the possession from the HF-L 45, Moses hit sophomore receiver Styhles McKenzie-Baker for a first down. He found McKnight over the top to get the ball inside the 10-yard before going back to McKenzie-Baker for the touchdown and a 20-0 lead going into halftime.

The loss was the first this season for HF-L (5-1) and the 26 points the most scored against a Cougar defense which had held its previous opponents to an average of 12 points per game.
“We weren’t ready for them,” HF-L head coach John Russ said. “We weren’t ready for their speed.”
Cougar quarterback Matt Meacham finished 16-of-33 for 330 yards. The junior signal caller connected with Andrew Wanzenried for the lone HF-L touchdown midway through the fourth quarter.
HF-L hosts Batavia next Friday.
Monroe travels to play at Geneva.
