ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Mykel White ignited a fourth-quarter rally with a touchdown and the last possession of the contest, but Aquinas came up short in a 14-13 decision to Canisius (Monsignor Martin).

Trailing 14-6 after the Crusaders took the lead early in the period, the senior quarterback heaved a 59-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Latone with 7:24 remaining. Once the defense posted a stand, the L’il Irish were awarded possession at their own 37-yard line with 3:20 left in the game. White immediately went to work picking apart the Crusaders’ defense, flinging a 20-yard catch to Eimaj Giddens and handing off to C.J. Robinson for another nine.

Despite the L’il Irish getting the ball to the 10-yard line, they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities in the red zone at the end. On fourth down, White took the direct snap and burst towards the left sideline before being grappled down by multiple defenders at the 17-yard line for a turnover on downs.

Giddens accounted for the only other score for the L’il Irish, a 62-yard gallop on the third possession of the game for a 7-6 advantage. All of the scoring in the game occurred in the first and fourth quarters.

Aquinas will continue to seek its first win next Friday against UPrep. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Marina Auto Stadium.
