BROCKPORT, N.Y– Led by Sherman Carson and Loyall Mouzon, the Eastridge Lancers earned their first win of the season with a come-from-behind, 32-29 victory over the Brockport Blue Devils.
“It’s great,” Eastridge’s head coach Jasson Jobson stated about the win. “It was a little bit of everything. We got down early. We know coach [Scott] Nugent was gonna have his guys ready. They’re a tough team. They always are. We always have battles.”
Carson and Mouzon combined for all four of Eastridge’s four touchdowns. Mouzon caught two from quarterback Brennen Russo and Carson ran for a long rushing touchdown and also caught a touchdown as well. The duo also converted on a combined three two-point conversions.

“They just made play after play after play,” coach Jobson said about Mouzon’s and Carson’s performance. “They are two AGR players hands downs. They are special kids. Offensively all we have to do is just try to get the ball in their hands.”
Russo threw for three touchdowns for the Lancers and was a key part in the comeback as well.
Mouzon caught his first touchdown of the night on the fourth play of the opening drive for Eastridge in the first quarter. The junior caught a pass and broke loose to get into the end zone for 63 yards after the Lancers fell behind 9-0 to open up the game. Carson punched in the two-point conversion to pull them within one. Russo connected with Carson halfway through the second half for a 19-yard passing touchdown.
The Lancers trailed the Blue Devils 23-16 at the half. Eastridge took its first lead of the game when Carson broke for his second touchdown in a one-play drive that put the Lancers up one. Mouzon punched in the conversion to give him and his team the lead 24-23.
Trailing in the fourth quarter, the Lancers took almost six minutes and eleven plays and once again found the lead from Russo and Mouzon’s second passing connection of the night.
Junior Cordell Young sealed the game for the Lancers with a key interception with 1:10 to go in the game.
“That’s huge because Cordell can make plays too,” Jobson said about Cordell Young’s interception. “He’s got to be patient and wait his time. We ask him to block. Number one and number nine go to work. I need guys to block for them and Cordell stepped up.”
Brockport put up a fight all game against Eastridge and fought until the final horn sounded. Quarterback Landon Scott and running back Nathan Parker provided most of the offense for the Blue Devils. Scott scored two of the Blue Devils’ touchdowns in the first half with QB runs in the red zone to keep his team in front going into the half. Parker punched in his own red zone touchdown for six yards early in the second quarter. Special teams also scored some points as they recorded a safety after they were able to tackle the Eastridge kick returner in the end zone after Brockport scored on their opening drive of the game.
Scott and Parker hooked up early in the fourth quarter to regain the lead 29-24. The duo started to push their team down the field in Brockport’s last drive of the game.
Brockport will travel to Greece Acardia next Thursday, September 15.
Eastridge will play Irondequoit at home next Friday, September 16.
