The Rochester Red Wings had a rough Thursday night as they fell to the Indianapolis Indians 14-4.
The Indians were propelled by an eight-run fourth inning to the 10-run victory on Thursday. Jose Godoy and Jared Oliva led Indianapolis with three RBIs each. Oliva recorded three hits while Godoy recorded two.
Lucius Fox led Rochester with two RBI Friday.
The Indians took a 4-0 lead by the end of the second inning before Rochester put runs on the board. Fox hit a two-run home run that drove in teammate Andrew Stevenson to cut the Indy lead in half. The Indians added another run to their lead in the bottom half of the third inning.
The returning Tres Barrera got his name on the score sheet with an RBI base hit to pull the Wings back within two runs. Daniel Johnson drove in Jake Alu the very next at-bat to pull Rochester within one run. However, Rochester couldn’t keep up as Indianapolis had its big eight-run fourth frame and added one more run in the sixth to seal the large margin victory.
Joan Adon got the start for Rochester and had some trouble in his outing. The right-hander lasted only three innings giving up three earned runs on six hits and three walks. He did fan three Indians in his start on Friday. Rochester’s bullpen used five arms to finish out the rest of the game. The bullpen struggled as well giving up eight earned runs on six hits and five walks.
The loss was Rochester’s biggest loss since they got shutout 13-0 against the Buffalo Bisons back on June 4.
Rochester will look to get back on the winning track when the series continues Friday against the Indians. A 7:05 p.m. first pitch is scheduled. Right-hander Franklyn Kilome will take the mound for the Wings Friday evening.
