The Rochester Red Wings bounced back against the Indianapolis Indians after dropping the series opener with a 3-1 win Wednesday afternoon.
John Nogowski continued his strong season for the Wings with two RBI en route to their victory. The Tallahassee native is batting .364 with Rochester with 12 RBI in 19 games.
Nogowski opened up the scoring in the top of the first inning with a soft groundout that drove in Lucius Fox.
Indianapolis tied the game with its only run in the bottom of the fourth. Cal Mitchell drove in Diego Castillo with a base hit.
Fox broke the tie in the eighth inning with a base hit to give Rochester the lead back. Nogowski added an insurance run two batters later to seal the 3-1 victory for the Red Wings.

Andrew Stevenson recorded two hits in Wednesday’s contest extending his on-base streak to 11 games.
Logan Verrett was on the bump for the wings on Wednesday. The right-hander tied a season-high seven innings pitched. The first time was on June 26 against the Syracuse Mets at home. Verrett pitched strong allowing one run on five hits. The Woodlands native set down the first six batters to open the ball game. He also struck out six batters.
After Verrett’s performance, the Red Wings bullpen shut Indianapolis down the final two innings of the ball game. Connor Sadzeck came in relief and faced four batters giving up one hit and striking out the next three batters. Jordan Weems came in in the ninth and recorded his 15th save of the season. Weems walked one and struck out three as well.
Rochester will look to make it two in a row as they continue its series against Indianapolis on Thursday at 7:05. Right-hander Joan Adon will take the mound for the Red Wings.
