Daniel Ponce de Leon pitched five no-hit innings as the Red Wings finished their series with the Worcester Red Sox with a 3-2 win.
Ponce de Leon dominated throughout the five innings he pitched, striking out seven while walking four. No Red Sox hitters advanced past second during his time on the mound as he threw 90 pitches, 45 for strikes. It was the first time a Red Wings pitcher had gone five or more no-hit innings since Franklyn Kilome threw five no-hit innings against Norfolk on Aug. 12, although Kilome allowed an earned run in that game.

The win is Ponce de Leon’s first as a Red Wing, but sixth on the year overall when including his time in the Pacific Coast League.
All three Rochester runs came in the third thanks to a three-run home run by Andrew Stevenson, his 11th on the year. The home run broke Stevenson’s tie with the on-the-injured-list Jake Noll for the lead among Red Wings assigned to AAA, although Joey Meneses still holds the team lead at 20 despite being called up to Washington earlier this month.
Worcester broke up the Rochester no-hitter in the sixth with an Abraham Almonte double off Alberto Baldonado. Later in the inning, Ronaldo Hernandez hit a two-run homer to end the shutout and narrow the score to 3-2.
Jordan Weems pitched 1.2 hitless innings for the save, his 14th of the year.
The Red Wings, now 53-64 on the year, will return to play on Tuesday at the Indianapolis Indians, with Patrick Murphy the scheduled starter.
