Max Caron provided three hits and three RBI to lead the Sawx to their first win of the season in Upstate Baseball League Division II action Wednesday night from Eastridge High School. The ninth-grader from Webster Thomas doubled and scored in a five-run top of the third plating both Dylan Dumont and Tyler Gordner to make it 4-2. Gabriel Rivera singled and drove in Caron on the next at bat.

Dumont singled earlier in the frame to score Anthony Getty, who went back-to-back with Ryan Ciccone for base hits. Ciccone took advantage of a wild pitch to score the Sawx first run. Caron’s other RBI came on a sacrifice fly to right field in a three-run seventh, and he scored on passed ball in the fourth and an error in the sixth.
Dumont went 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs. Joseph Guisto, John Salamone, Ethan Light and Hudson Lazenby each had an RBI. The Sawx totaled nine hits, while benefitting from six errors which resulted in two runs. Getty started and struck out two batters over three innings of two-hit ball, while allowing two runs. Hudson Lazenby relieved through the next four innings. Gordner added a double in the fourth and scored on a passed ball.

For the Amazins, Jacob Murray started the scoring with a two-out single to right in a two-run first to bring home Jacob Sova. Landon Brown was hit by a pitch to open the inning and then scored on a wild pitch after Sova moved the leadoff man to the corner with a one-out single. Sova followed up Chase Sackett’s single in the fourth when he connected for a sacrifice fly that scored the Fairport sophomore. Sackett advanced to second on an error and took third on a wild pitch before scoring. Henry Hawkinson knocked home Garrett McNeil in the fifth with an RBI-single. Jerry Hitchcock concluded the Amazins’ scoring with an RBI-groundout in the frame. Sackett went 2-for-3 and started the game with four strikeouts in three innings. Sova pitched the sixth and seventh striking out four batters and giving up one hit and zero earned runs. Paul Stevens added an infield single in the fourth.
