The Rochester Red Wings dropped their first game back from the All-Star break to division foe Buffalo, 3-0.
The Bisons piggybacked off a three-run first inning to propel them to victory Friday night.
Spencer Horwitz put Buffalo on the board with a two-run home run. He drove in Otto Lopez who led off the inning with a single. Stevie Berman later in the inning singled to score LJ Talley to put the Bisons up 3-0, the score that remained for the rest of the contest.
Rochesters’ offense mustered up four hits Friday evening. Andrew Stevenson, Joey Meneses, Josh Palacios, and Donovan Casey recorded the hits for the Red Wings.
Meneses’s hit in the game Friday was his 100 hit on the season as he ranks second in the league in the base knock category.
Josh Rogers started the game for Rochester. After a rough first inning where he gave the three runs on three hits and a walk, he settled down to pitch four more innings. The left-hannder gave up three more hits in the rest of his start. He fanned three Bisons in his outing Friday. The bullpen for the Red Wings stayed strong giving up a combined four hits and no runs between Francisco Perez, Alberto Baldonado, and Mason Thompson. The bullpen also combined for three strikeouts during Friday’s game.
The loss to Buffalo puts the Red Wings tied with them for third in the division standings. Both teams sit 2.5 games back from first place Lehigh Valley.
Rochester will look to get back on the right track on Saturday as they continue its three-game set with Buffalo. First pitch is set for 6:05.
